Sneak Peek: Pucking Sweet by Emily Rath

Pucking Sweet

by Emily Rath

A pre-release review of Book #3 of the Jacksonville Rays series.

The third installation of the Jacksonville Rays series.

I will preface this with the story of how I ended up reading book 1 — Pucking Around (Amazon). it’s quite simple, actually. I am a huge hockey romance fan, so naturally, such a title would grab my attention. And when one is quickly packing for a two-week trip to the Philippines and loading up her e-reader with books to last the 18-hour flight, one might not read the description as closely as one should. That is all to say, that was my first experience with a why choose romance and I very quickly became addicted.

Not only were the first two books in this series beyond steamy (because they are!), they most definitely teased this book up. So I was more than excited to get my hands on this book before it’s release date because I. JUST. HAD. TO. KNOW.

So grateful I was able to receive an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book via NetGalley.

What Victoria Loved

VICTORIA’S RATING: 4/5

The beautiful thing about this series is that we get peeks at the other storylines in each of the books. Emily does a beautiful job weaving in interactions between all of her main characters, so all the little cameos from Poppy, Lukas and Colton pay off in this book!

As I mentioned, the why choose concept took me by surprise in the series debut. But I was so quickly hooked. And when Poppy’s story was teased in Pucking Wild, I was just itching for their story and ANOTHER why choose. Because really, after you’ve met Colton and Lukas — how does one choose? Well, I may have my favorite between the two, but I’ll leave it up to you to make your own decision.

Poppy, like Rachel in Pucking Around, is determined to make a name for herself separate from her family. And we certainly dive deep into the web of chaos that is the St. James family. And with her new role as the Director of Public Relations with the Jacksonville Rays, she has every opportunity to make her dreams come true. As you would expect, things don’t go smoothly for her, which isn’t ideal for her Type-A personality.

  • THREE’S COMPANY: Triple Sec by TJ Alexander (Amazon)

Pour yourself a drink (or no… you should wait and make yourself a drink using Mel’s recipes through the book) and crack open this book. Then settle in for the night because you’re going to want to read this in one sitting. But! I’d recommend you do take your time so you can actually make those drinks as you read because they sounded delicious!

Beyond the amazing food and drink descriptions, TJ does an incredible job writing these characters and their relationship dynamics. They’re all so different — their interests, passions, journeys — yet they fit together so well.

I wish there was more Kade / Mel time or Kade / Bebe time. Basically, I wish there was just more Kade because I’m a sucker for a brooding love interest. Guess I’ll just have to reread to get my fix!

  • WHY CHOOSE DARK BULLY ROMANCE: Lords of Pain (Royals of Forsyth U #1) by Angel Lawson & Samantha Rue (Amazon)

Trigger Warnings GALORE! Lords of Pain is the first book in this 15-book series and your entry into one of the most addicting reads you’ll have the pleasure of experiencing. It’s dark, twisted and honestly very f*cked. BUT the world building, character development and the steam is worth it. If you’re in the mood for something grittier, darker and you’re able to stomach the trigger warnings, get ready for all-nighters because you won’t be able to put these books down.

  • MORE TEAMWORK: Wicked Beauty (Dark Olympus #3) by Katee Robert (Amazon)

The third installation of the Dark Olympus series, a retelling of Helen of Troy, Achilles, and Patroclus. It’s action-packed, thrilling, and scorchingly hot. These three may be competitors of a challenge only one of them can win. But when love and power are on the line, who will be victorious? The answer: you, the reader.

    • Pucking Around (Jacksonville Rays #1) by Emily Rath (Amazon)

This is a looooong book, but I personally didn’t mind it. I picked it up for the hockey and I kept reading it for, well, the other sticks and scoring. But really, I was intrigued by the relationship dynamics of this workplace / neighbors / friends-to-lovers romance featuring broody and cinnamon roll love interests. While others will complain this didn’t need to be so long, it was all quite satisfying.

      VICTORIA’S RATING: 4/5

    • Pucking Wild (Jacksonville Rays #2) by Emily Rath (Amazon)

A reverse age gap, forced proximity (aka roommate) romance! This wasn’t my favorite of the series (because how does one go from three love interests to one and feel fulfilled), but the sauna scene is forever stuck in my mind. Also, I love a strong FMC who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid of her sexuality. Plus the teaser scene in this book for Pucking Sweet is just too good. I squealed.

Until the next chapter!
