Worth the Re-Read: Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood
ON OUR BOOKSHELF
Love, Theoretically
by Ali Hazelwood
I hope it’s not a surprise that I re-read my favorite books — when I’m in a slump or when I simply miss my favorite characters. These re-read reviews feature the books I reach for over and over again, and they’re often at the top of my recommendations. Enjoy!
Now, it may be silly (or as my sister would say, psychotic) to recommend the third book in a series before I recommend the first. And to that I have three points to state:
I unapologetically will always recommend my favorite book in a series first, and will likely caveat if the series is worth the read solely so you can enjoy the book I am recommending
Most books I recommend out of series order are stand-alone books, which is the case here. That means you don’t need to read books #1 and #2 to read this one.
Lastly, I’m not saying that The Love Hypothesis (book #1 in this series) isn’t a great book. In fact, it’s a 5/5 read for me. But in my eyes, this book is just that much better.
That said, if you just can’t start at book #3, then by all means start from #1. But make sure you make your way to this book. You can thank me later.
What Victoria Loved
VICTORIA’S RATING: 5/5
I read this book twice within the first 24 hours of receiving it, and it very quickly became my go-to palate cleanser / book hangover relief. To say I’m addicted to this romance is an understatement.
Ali introduces us to two intriguing characters in Elsie and Jack and turns up the humor and steam. Enter the world of academia, professional fake dating, and workplace romance. The twists and tiny details had me squealing and eagerly turning the page. The chemistry, the tension, the feud… sighhhh!
Jack Smith might be my ultimate book boyfriend - a sulking, intelligent and no-nonsense with the softest center. If he wants to hunt something to cook for me, I would definitely not say no.

WORKPLACE FAKE RELATIONSHIP: The Fake Mate by Lana Ferguson (Amazon)
They say never judge a book by a cover. Well I did… I thought this was going to be a cute little love story, but boy was I wrong. Lana Ferguson delivered a romance AND THEN SOME. When I say this book is NSFW and should be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home, I mean it. Enjoy the heat!

GO DOWN A STEM RABBIT HOLE: The Soulmate Equation (DNADuo #1) by Christina Lauren (Amazon)
As someone who indirectly works in the world of genetics, this was right up my alley! A data-based app that matches people based on genetic compatibility, well color me curious and reel me further in with off-the-charts chemistry between the two main characters. This is exactly what you’d expect from Christina and Lauren. One of my favorite series from these queens!

WE LOVE A NERDY HERO: Beard Science (Winston Brothers #3) by Penny Reid (Amazon)
Welp. Here we go again with a not-first-book recommendation. This series you should probably read in order. Cletus is my favorite brother in this series — he’s sensible, he’s quirky, he’s a mystery, he’s a mastermind. He doesn’t do love. Yet… this was one of my favorite storylines in this series.

BY THE AUTHOR: The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood (Amazon)
This romance features a broody love interest starring in an age-gap, workplace romance. This is a STEM love story might make you wish you majored in the sciences so you could spend some time in the lab to conduct some research.

Until the next chapter!
