Romances for Gilmore Girls Fans

ROUND UP

Happy Endings for Gilmore Girls Lovers

Books that mention and celebrate our favorite Gilmore Girls.

It’s that time of year: Gilmore Girls season (aka New England fall). As the leaves turn and the temperature cools, it’s time to cozy up with a mug of hot cocoa or cider and one of the books from the list below to experience Gilmore Girls from a different medium.

Victoria Loves Romances for Gilmore Girls Fans

Every year, as soon as the leaves start to turn yellow, orange or red, you’ll catch me curled up on the couch prepping for an annual Gilmore Girls marathon. And for a girl who lives in CT (and tried to purchase a house in Washington Depot — aka the real life Stars Hollow), it may be safe to say I’m a little too obsessed.

So it’s only natural that when I escape into my books (like Rory!), I’ve stumbled upon quite a few that I think my fellow Gilmore Girls fans would love. The books below feature Gilmore Girls mentions, characters with personalities and quirks reminiscent of our favorite characters, and towns inspired by Stars Hollow.

Set the mood with The Haus of Hamilton Soundtrack: New England Fall (Spotify). Peep the leaves, pick the apples, inhale the crisp mountain air and sip the pumpkin spice lattes. Live your best Gilmore Girls life and breathe in our favorite season: autumn.

Favorite Scene

"This place can't be real, and yet… she's here, in Eloraton, the town of her favorite romance series, where the candy store's honey taffy is always sweet, the local bar's burgers are always a little burnt, and rain always comes in the afternoon. It feels like home. It's perfect—and perfectly frozen, trapped in the late author's last unfinished story"

    VICTORIA’S RATING: 4.5/5

  • “RORY AND JESS, JESS AND RORY”: I Think He Knows (Donovan Family #2) by Katie Bailey (Amazon)

So many Gilmore Girls references (#TeamJess), you’ll feel like you’ve watched the show instead of reading a book.

    VICTORIA’S RATING: 4/5

  • “YOU WROTE A BOOK”: Book Lovers by Emily Henry (Amazon)

If Rory Gilmore and Jess Mariano had a spin-off: small town romance featuring bookish FMC and MMC.

  • “I LOVE YOU, YOU IDIOT": The Rule Book by Sarah Adams (Amazon)

An HoH Book Club pick! The FMC is so quirky — she’s got Sookie’s charm, Lorelai’s fashion sense, and Paris’ determination to succeed in a male-dominated field. And a MMC who pines as hard as Luke Danes.

    VICTORIA’S RATING: 4/5

  • WHEN YOU’RE READY TO WALLOW: How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang (Amazon)

An HoH Book Club pick! FMC binges Gilmore Girls to cope through Thanksgiving. What’s more relatable (or more Gilmore Girls) than that?

    VICTORIA’S RATING: 5/5

  • “TURN RIGHT AT THE BIG ROOSTER STATUE”: The Reason I Married Him (Almond Bay #2) by Meghan Quinn (Amazon)

A town so quaint, the only way to describe it is to compare it to Stars Hollow.

    VICTORIA’S RATING: 3.5/5

  • THE ROADTRIP TO HARVARD MAINE: Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun (Amazon)

An HoH Book Club pick! Banter as quick and pop-culture filled as Lorelai and Rory. And a little Gilmore Girls binge fest.

  • LAZY-HAZY-CRAZY DAYS: A Novel Love Story by Ashley Poston (Amazon)

If Stars Hollow was a real place: a grumpy small-business owner, a diner, an inn, a local bookstore, and a whole lotta over-involved townsfolk. Read Victoria’s Sneak Peek.

    VICTORIA’S RATING: 5/5

  • “THERE GOES MY LITTLE GIRL, OFF TO RULE THE WORLD”: The Match (It Happened in Charleston #1) by Sarah Adams (Amazon)

    VICTORIA’S RATING: 3.5/5

  • “I SMELL SNOW”: The Tourist Attraction (Moose Springs, Alaska #1) by Sarah Morgenthaler (Amazon)

Grumpy diner owner a la Luke, who is super rugged and outdoorsy. And can probably fish and build an ice rink in the Alaskan wilderness.

    VICTORIA’S RATING: 3.5/5

The Best of the Best: Victoria’s Top Pick

“I NEED MOMMY AND I DON’T CARE WHO KNOWS IT”: Better Than the Movies (Better Than the Movies #1) by Lynn Painter (Amazon)

An HoH Book Club pick! A FMC as emotionally unstable (but pop-culture obsessed) as Rory and a step-mom who, dare I say it, is cooler than Lorelai.

VICTORIA’S RATING: 5/5

WHEN RORY GOES TO YALE: Nothing Like the Movies (Better Than the Movies #2) by Lynn Painter (Amazon)

A former geeky FMC finds herself embraced by the cool kids, invited to parties and debating whether she should be with her high school sweetheart. Her internship is with an industry mogul and she’s eager to impress. MMC has to deal with the weight of his dad’s expectations and it takes a toll on him.

VICTORIA’S RATING: 4/5
